The Building Department issues all building permits within West Lafayette city limits.

It is important to secure a building permit to ensure that your project is structurally sound and complies with building and zoning codes. The Building Department has 10 working days to review permit applications. Please allow the necessary time when scheduling your project.

When applying for a building permit within the New Chauncey Historical District please note that plans will need to be submitted to the Department of Development and reviewed by the Historic Preservation Committee before the Building Department will review and issue a building permit.
